Physical Therapy

Auto Accidents along with any type of injury can set a person back physically, emotionally, and financially. Rehabilitative therapy works to get your muscles, joints, and motion back to normal. Without therapy a person may notice that the symptoms leading after an accident never really go away. Some report they do go away though, however, they come back in the form of chronic pain later on in life when nothing is done to treat the problems early. Rehabilitative therapy includes exercises, stretches, massage, trigger point treatment, electric stimulation, ultrasound, and more. With those therapies many patients see great results and heal quickly.

Exercises help to get motion restored with the muscles and joints. Usually exercises are started after pain has decreased or is no longer constant. Stretches help create blood flow and help the muscles restore themselves back to there normal length. Stretching a warm muscle is much easier than a cold one. A hot shower or light walk can help facilitate a warm muscle. Many muscles tighten up or loose there elasticity when an injury occurs. Massage and trigger point treatment help in relieving muscular pain and tension. This is very important when you are trying to restore motion to joints and throughout the body. Electric stimulation and ultrasound are part of physical therapy and also help with increasing blood flow, decreasing inflammation, and overall muscle and joint rehabilitation.

With multiple therapies combined patients find that they recover quickly with less down time. It is important to see a physician that can offer many options for recovery and not just one. Always check to see if you are getting the best treatment for your condition. When you do not receive the proper care for your condition it can take longer to get better or have a full recovery. Physical recovery usually is the start of the emotional and physical recovery that people experience if and when they have an accident.
